1. The Danger of Cheap Solvent Adhesives

In low-end protection films, manufacturers often use aggressive rubber-based or low-grade solvent adhesives to ensure the film sticks quickly during installation. Over time, these cheap adhesives suffer from:

  • Cross-Contamination & Tackifying: Under high solar temperatures, the adhesive hardens and cross-links chemically with the vehicle's clear coat.
  • Delamination upon Removal: When an owner attempts to remove the film after 3 or 4 years, the bond between the adhesive and the car is stronger than the clear coat bond, causing traumatic paint peeling.
  • Heavy Adhesive Residue: Even if the paint remains intact, removing the baked-on glue requires harsh chemical solvents and metal scrapers, inducing deep micro-scratches.

2. AXELL Removable Acrylic Copolymer Technology

AXELL PPF features a 30-micron layer of ultra-pure acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) engineered with controlled peel-adhesion rheology:

Adhesive Parameter Industry Standard PPF AXELL Certified Acrylic PSA
Initial Installation Tack Aggressive (Difficult to reposition) Low-Tack Floating Slip (Zero Silvering)
Cured Shear Strength (24h) Moderate (Vulnerable to high-pressure wash) High Shear Modulus (>18 N/25mm)
Peel Adhesion at Removal Variable & Spiking (>30 N/25mm) Controlled Low-Peel (<12 N/25mm)
Residue Left on Removal Heavy Yellow Glue Residue 0% Residue (Leaves Paint Mirror-Clean)

3. The Professional 45° Warm Removal Protocol

When removing AXELL PPF after its 7 to 10 year service life, certified installers follow our 45-Degree Warm Removal Protocol:

  1. Warm the panel surface gently to approximately 40°C - 50°C (104°F - 122°F) using steam or hot water.
  2. Lift a corner edge and peel the film backward upon itself at an acute 45-degree angle (never jerk the film straight up at 90 degrees).
  3. The acrylic adhesive stretches cohesively with the TPU core, staying 100% bonded to the film and cleanly releasing from the clear coat.

Preserving OEM Collector Resale Value

When a collector vehicle or lease-return automobile has AXELL PPF removed after years of driving, the factory paint beneath is in exact Day-1 showroom condition—free of stone chips, UV fading, or chemical etching. This directly maximizes resale value by up to 15% to 25% compared to repainted or chipped vehicles.
